Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a method to permanently remove unwanted facial hair and body hair. Although most women's body parts can be treated with electrolysis, it is commonly used on areas of the body where body hair is the least wanted such as the bikini line, upper lip and chin. Modern electrolysis equipment will destroy the growth center of the hair with either chemical or heat energy. A very thin probe is inserted into the hair follicle and once the hair follicle is treated it is removed with tweezers.
There are no officially known side effects of electrolysis, although a slight reddening of the treated area may occur. Most patients say that the treatment only gives a tingling sensation, in some cases of very sensitive patients, a topical anesthetic may be used to reduce any discomfort. Most treatment sessions last between 15 minutes and 1 hour.
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal solution recognized by the FDA and American Medical Association. Electrolysis is also a great alternative to temporary hair removal techniques such as bleaching which oftentimes uses abrasive chemicals which may cause skin discoloration and irritates the skin or like waxing which is both costly and extremely painful.
